There’s a curious definition of selfishness going on here.
If I expect the younger generation to support me during my 40 years of retirement, I’m not selfish. I’m not being a burden, I’m just claiming my entitlement.
If I don’t have children who can take care of me when I’m older, that makes me selfish. Creating a situation where I have to take care of myself is a selfish move?
So, to be unselfish I’m supposed to use my children as my retirement program. It’s in my own self-interest to be unselfish, and it’s selfish to act counter to my self-interest.
Insanity.
